NEW: ACT Skilled Occupation List - 1 September 2016

The ACT Government has released a new ACT Occupation List effective today, 1 September 2016.  

A summary of the list provides the following information:

• The skills need has eased for restaurant managers, management consultants, solicitors and financial advisers. These occupations are now closed.


• The demand for skills within corporate management, HR and the creative / design sector is increasing. Occupations within these sectors have now opened.


• The ‘open’ status of the following occupations remains unchanged indicating a continual high demand for civil engineers, general practitioners, retail pharmacists, early childhood teachers, architects, medical imaging professionals, registered nurses, counsellors, mechanics, psychologists and real estate professionals. 

Applications for ACT nomination submitted and lodged before 01/09/16 will be assessed against the ‘at time of application’ criteria.

ACT Skilled Occupation List (SOL) Updated

The ACT Occupation list for Subclass 190 sponsored visas has been updated today.

Changes in skills needs in the ACT has allowed for a large number of occupations to be opened and 2 have been closed.

The occupations of child care centre manager and panel beater have been closed.

Thirty four new occupations have been opened in the communications, construction, finance, hospitality, and nursing.

SA Supplementary Skilled List adds CSOL occupations and replaces the South Australian Graduate List

The South Australian Graduate List for state nomination has been replaced by the Supplementary Skilled List. This new list offers all the occupations on the DIBP Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) that are NOT on the SA State Occupation List.

The State Occupation List contains 171 occupations and the Supplementary Skilled List the remaining 480 occupations. 

This now give the opportunity for skilled workers in one of the three following categories to meet the criteria for state sponsorship:  

• International graduate of South Australia.


• Worked in a skilled occupation in South Australia for the last 12 months.


• Immediate family member permanently residing in South Australia for 12 months or more.

ACT Releases New Skilled Occupation List (SOL)

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has implemented an updated Skilled Occupation List (SOL) from 24 February 2014. The ACT currently only participates in the Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 and extends sponsorship to applicants living in Australia and those residing overseas, subject to meeting certain specific criteria.

In addition to nominating an occupation which appears on the current ACT list, applicants are also required to satisfy a minimum level of English, demonstrate that there are suitable employment prospects for their occupation and provide evidence of their commitment to Canberra. Additional criteria apply for certain occupations which are classified as "limited" or "closed".

 

Prior to applying for state sponsorship with the ACT, or any other participating state/territory government, applicants must ensure that they are able to satisfy the visa criteria as set by the Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP).
